September Board Meeting:

·         Treasurer’s report: YRE: $2,588.31. Reg.: $2,871.61

September General Meeting:

·         Treasurer’s report as of Sept. 27: YRE: $4,713. 82. Reg.: $5,631.03 (includes bus trip deposits)

·         A slate of officers for the 2006-2007 term was presented. See page 2.

·         Art Whittaker reported that we now have 110 members.

 



PATHFINDERS NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting is October 19.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month.

Executive meetings: the first Monday of each month, at the Northampton Library, 936 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, at 7 p.m. All members are welcome.

Fort Monroe Event

FALL FAIRE: Saturday, October 8

9 a.m. – 3 p.m. under the Fest Tent at Walker Airfield.

9 a.m. – 4 pm: Peninsula Pathfinders’ Volksmarch

11 a.m. – 3 pm: Music, Food, Arts & Crafts.

Pathfinders: We need more volunteers to work 9 – 11 and 11 – 1. Call Betty Bess, 539-0136.

October General meeting

Meeting program: Club member Jack Rezabek will demonstrate use of a metal detector and relate some of his metal detecting experiences.

Events early in November…

Nov 5, Pamunkey Indian Reservation: 9 – 10 a.m.; finish by 1 p.m. Start point is at the Museum, 175 Lay Landing Road, King William, VA. 5 and 10 K walks. Awards for both events are magnets.

 

 

Nov 5, West Point: 2 – 3 p.m.; finish by 6 p.m. Start point is at McDonald’s, 432 14th Street (Route 33) West Point VA. 5 and 11 K walks.

Nominations have been made for 2006 – 2007 Peninsula Pathfinders officers:

Elections will be at the October meeting.

Nominations will be taken from the floor.

Club members interested in serving as an officer or an appointed/volunteer position, please contact a club officer.

2006 Events

Tentative schedule for 2006 events:

April 8: Grandview

June 3: Newport News Park, Club picnic in conjunction with National Trail Days

October 14: Yorktown

December 8, 9, 10: Williamsburg

Change to Savage Maryland Year Round box location

The walk box for the year round event at Historic Savage Mill, Savage, Maryland, has been relocated to Antique Center III. The directions in the Stating Point will get you to the Mill. The box is just being moved from Center I to Center III.

For 2006 this walk is designated a Railroad walk - you walk over the Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge, the only surviving structure of its kind.
