RON’S RANT

Our walk at Yorktown went well.  It is hard to put on a quality event without many people helping.  Thanks to ALL who worked, especially the event coordinator—Annette Tollett.

However, December is fast approaching.  The Pathfinders’ yearly extravaganza at Williamsburg—2 walks and a swim will be held the weekend of December 8-10.

We are going to need LOTS of help!!  We are asking that people sign up to work two (2) shifts, of course if all 90+ members signed up for just one shift we would be good to go.

Betty Bess will be calling all of you that she hasn’t heard from!!  Or better yet save her some time and call her (539-0136).

We have a number of new members who would like to help out, but haven’t a clue.  To them let me assure you that Betty WILL match you with a “Veteran”, we won’t hang you out there!

So EVERYONE please support our club and our December walks and swim and call Betty at 539-0136 so she doesn’t have to call you!                      RON

             Bus Trip Ideas

In the May 2006 Compass we discussed several ideas for bus trips for 2007.  New member Jan Beckett has offered to help Diane with bus trips.    In the January 2007 newsletter we hope to have draft trip itineraries and estimated dates and a price “range”.  The ideas we are working on for 2007:

May or June:  Bus trip with possibility of four walks (Annapolis, Maryland, Baltimore (2), Maryland and Dover, Delaware).  This will be a bus trip with two overnights and the possibility of attending a baseball game.

April:  A day trip by bus to DC for a VM during The Cherry Blossom Festival.

December:  Bus or train trip to New York City with opportunity for two to four Volksmarches (depends on whether we go by bus or train how many VMs) and a show.

Want to be a Trip Captain?  Contact Diane at 757-890-9220 or email:  walkingtheusa@cox.net

New Club Coupons

At the September club meeting the club voted to increase the cost of our club coupon to $2.50 per walk effective January 1, 2007.  The club also voted to have coupons for 5, 10, and 20 walks.  All individuals with an old club coupon MUST turn the old coupon in to either Shirley Boyd or Diane Berard in December to receive their new coupon.  Credit will be given for unused walks.
