LOCATION:YMCA, 7827 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA
DISTANCE:There is a 11-kilometer (6.6) and a 5 (3.1 MILES) kilometer trail.
START AND FINISH TIMES:The start point is open 5:30 am to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday; 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday; and 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday. The YMCA is closed on major holidays and Easter. You must walk during daylight hours.
WALK FEES:The A award and credit is $6. The B award fee and credit is $4.00. The credit only fee is $3.00. There is no fee just to walk the trail, but you must carry a start card. There is no pre-registration. Since the start location cannot collect fees for us, a self-addressed envelope is provided for you to mail the white copy of the start card and your fee. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK payable to the Peninsula Pathfinders of Virginia.
WALK AWARD: The A-award is a 3 x 2 1/4 inch patch of a Rose taken from a picture of one of the Roses in the Rose Garden that you will walk through.
B Awards: There are a limited number of B awards available.
SPECIAL AVA PROGRAMS: Walking the USA "N" for Newport News, Riverwalk America (James River), Railroad Heritage, and Authors and Literary Landmarks (author William Styron was born in Newport News).
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:The start box is on a table behnind the main desk. If you have trouble finding the box just ask at the counter. Complete the paperwork for the event by following the instructions in the box.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:Walk trail rating 1. The walk trail is along sidewalks and road shoulders. The trail goes through scenic neighborhoods and is suitable for strollers and handicapped.

DIRECTIONS TO HILTON VILLAGE YMCA-NEWPORT NEWS:Take I-64 to Exit 263A, Mercury Blvd., Rt. 258 West. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right on Mercury Blvd. Proceed approximately 3.3 miles to Warwick Blvd. (turn is at top of overpass). At the bottom of the ramp, turn right on Warwick Blvd. Turn left at the first light (one block) onto Hornet Circle. The YMCA is the first building on the left.
