MARINERS' MUSEUM AND CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY YEAR ROUND WALKS
EVENT NUMBER: Y1819 (5 km and 10 km trail) and Y0833 (5 km and 10 km trail)
LOCATION: Mariners’ Museum (Visitors’ Desk), 100 Museum Drive, Newport News, VA,
DISTANCE: There is a choice of two walks please specify which walking box you are asking for (Noland Trail Walk or Christopher Newport University Walk).
START AND FINISH TIMES: Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday Noon to 5:00 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
WALK FEES: The "A" award plus credit is $7.00. The credit only fee is $3.00. "B" awards from 2002, 2003 and 2004 are available for $4.00 for the Mariners' Museum Walk. There is no fee just to walk the trail but you must carry a start card. There is no preregistration. Since the start location cannot collect fees for us, a self-addressed envelope is provided for you to mail the white copy of the start card and your fee. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK made payable to The Peninsula Pathfinders of Virginia.
WALK AWARD: The A-award is a 3 inch by 5 inch patch designed by one our members showing the Monitor.
B Awards: There are a limited number of B awards available.

SPECIAL AVA PROGRAMS: Both: Walking the USA "N" for Newport News, Riverwalk America (James River), Museums (Mariners' Museum), Artistic Heritage (Peninsula Fine Arts Center), and Authors and Literary Landmarks (author William Styron was born in Newport News). Mariners' Museum: Cemetery. Note: The 5 km trails to not include all of the special programs.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES: Inquire at the Visitors’ Desk for the Peninsula Pathfinders walk start boxes. Complete the paperwork for the event by following the instructions in the box. Remember that the start point is a business. Please be patient while they wait on their customers.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Mariners Museum (Noland Trail) trail rating 1+. The trail is on the grounds of the Mariners Museum (one of the finest maritime history museums in the world) and includes the Noland Trail. The trail is primarily through the woods around Lake Maury. It is not suitable for strollers and handicapped. Christopher Newport University Trail is through the campus of Christopher Newport University (CNU). Walk features the I.M. DIRECTIONS MARINERS’ MUSEUM-Newport News:From I-64 take Exit 258A, J. Clyde Morris Blvd, US Route 17 South. Drive about 2.5 miles to the end of J. Clyde Morris Blvd to Warwick Blvd (multi-lane highway). Continue straight across Warwick Blvd to Avenue of the Arts. Go 0.1 mile and turn left at a blue Mariners' Museum sign. Continue straight to enter the Mariners’ Museum grounds. Park in the parking lot near the museum.
