COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG

LOCATION:Bucktrot Lane, Williamsburg, VA

DISTANCE: There is one 5 and one 10-km trail that can be walked for credit.

START AND FINISH TIMES: The hours are:

Monday through Friday 6 am – 10 PM
Saturday and Sunday 8 am – 10 PM
Swim times:
Monday through Sunday 10 am – noon
2 PM – 4 PM

WALK FEES:Registration is $5 per participant for the 2002 award patch and IVV credit; B award is $4; IVV credit only is $2. There is no fee just to participate in a particular event all are welcome, but you must carry a start card. There is no pre-registration. The fees for this event will be paid for at the start location. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK.

WALK AWARD:A 6-inch high diamond patch depicting the courthouse located in Williamsburg is the award for the walk. This patch is designed to fit together with the patches from the Yorktown and Jamestown year-round walks to make a 6-inch high triangle. If you walk the three events within 2 weeks, you can elect to receive the three patches as one whole patch. Otherwise, you will receive a single patch for this event.

BIKE FEES: The bike event is credit only or B award from past years. The B award is $4; IVV credit only is $2. There is no fee to just ride the trail, all are welcome, but you must carry a start card. There is no pre-registration. The fees for this event are paid for at the start location. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Trail rating 2. The walk trail will be along the shoulder of roads, sidewalks, and a dirt exercise trail through the historical area of Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary campus. Strollers and wheelchairs are not recommended on the exercise trail. The bike trail is along city and country roads.

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG (from Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News): Take I-64 west to Exit 242A, Williamsburg, VA Rt. 199 West. Drive about 1.1 miles to the exit for US 60. Turn right onto the exit. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto US 60 West. At the first stoplight (about 2 miles), turn left. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto Bucktrot Lane. Continue straight passing the tennis courts on your left to the parking lot for Providence Hall. The start point will be in the building just to the left of the tennis courts.

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG (from Richmond and points north): Travel east on I-64 and exit at Exit 238, Williamsburg, and Rt. 143 East. At top of ramp, turn right onto VA Rt. 143 East. Follow VA Rt. 143 to VA Routes 5 and 31 (approximately 1 mile). Take VA Routes 5 and 31 to the right. Follow these routes about 1.3 miles. (At this point US 60 turns left and VA 5, 31, and 162 turn right.) After coming thru the light onto York/Francis Street, continue straight. Turn left at the first street, Bucktrot Lane, just past the tavern parking lot on your left. Continue straight passing the tennis courts on your left to the parking lot for Providence Hall. The start point will be in the building just to the left of the tennis courts.
