EVENT NUMBERS: There will be a choice of two separate 5 and 10 kilometer walks. One is predominately through the town and part of the battlefield (Y285 5 and 10 km walk). The other is strictly the battlefield (Y284 5-10 km walk)
LOCATION: Ranger Desk at the Visitors Center, Yorktown Battlefield, Colonial National Historical Park, Yorktown, VA. There is an entrance fee per adult or you may use your golden Eagle or Golden Age pass or annual Yorktown pass. A combined entrance fee can be purchased for Yorktown and Jamestown. Fees are good for 7 days after purchase. Entrance to the park is free on July 4, August 25, and October 19. DISTANCE: Two separate walking trails may be walked for credit both have 5 and 10 km trails.
START AND FINISH TIMES: Visitor Center hours are: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day.
WALK FEES: Registration is $7.00 per participant for the A award patch and IVV credit; B award from previous years is $4.00; IVV credit only is $3.00. There is no fee to walk the trails, all are welcome, but you must carry a start card. There is no pre-registration. A self-addressed envelope will be provided for you to mail the white copy of the start card and your fee to the club. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK made payble to the Peninsula Pathfinders of Virginia.
WALK AWARD: The A-award is a 3 x 4-inch patch designed by one our members showing a canon at Yorktown.
B Awards: There are a limited number of B Awards available.

Town Walk only: RiverWalk America, Courthouses, Historic Churches (Grace Episcopal Church), Hooray for Hollywood and Veteran Memorials. Note: check the 5 km instructions for which special events the 5 km walks include.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Trail rating 1+. The trails are along the shoulder of roads through the battlefield area and through the historical town of Yorktown. Parts of the walk trails are on dirt pathways and may be difficult for wheelchairs. Strollers may be used.

DIRECTIONS:
YORKTOWN (from Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News): Take I-64 west to Exit 258B, US 17 North. Follow US 17 North about 8.1 miles to the stoplight at Cook Road. Turn right at that stoplight onto Cook Road (VA 704). Follow Cook Road to the stop sign (about 2.4 miles). Turn left onto VA 238. Proceed about 0.1 miles and turn a hard right. Proceed toward the visitors’ center and park in the parking lot at the visitors’ center. The Ranger's Desk is located in the visitors’ center.
YORKTOWN (from Richmond and points north): Take I-64 east to Exit 242B, Rt. 199 East. Travel east on Rt. 199 about 2 miles. The road narrows from four lanes to two. You will come to a high security fence on both sides of the road and a water tower on the left side. After you pass the water tower, turn right up the ramp to the Colonial Parkway. At the stop sign at the top of the ramp, turn right toward Yorktown. Drive down the Colonial Parkway to the stop sign (about 8.5 miles). At the stop sign, proceed straight across and park in the parking lot at the visitors’ center. The Ranger's Desk is located in the visitors’ center.
